I'm the "boomer of the team" at Smartzone.de.
My enthusiasm for tech started back in the 1980s, when computers were still expanded
with a soldering iron and smartphones were pure science fiction. What's stayed is the
joy of tinkering, trying things out, and figuring out what technology can actually do.
My time online started about 20 years ago on
handy-faq.de,
where I've since racked up close to 5,000 posts. Later I continued on the
Android-Hilfe.de forum,
adding roughly 4,000 more there. Since March 2023 I've also been writing occasionally
for the ANKER.blog.
Over that whole span I've also written countless tests and reviews for online
marketplaces such as Amazon — only a small, hand-picked selection of
those is publicly visible there.
By profession I'm a lecturer in mathematics, IT, and electrical engineering. In my
free time I test pretty much anything with a plug, a battery, or a processor. My
standard is simple: technology has to hold up in everyday use and be explained
clearly. So I don't just rely on manufacturer claims — I measure things myself and try
them out.
My focus is on devices that can be tested hands-on and occasionally pushed to their
limits in everyday use. That includes 3D printers and accessories, laser engravers,
power stations, robotic mowers, and chargers or power supplies.
